It surprised me when I learned about it, and I thought it was quite neat to be honest. The VWP allows for people to fill out an online application in order to get approval for entry into the US without a visa.

ESTA is the acronym that represents the VWP. It makes applying for entry into the US easy, and it’s actually an automated process. Your part isn’t automated, but it’s easy enough because you’re filling out an online form. You do have to make sure that you are traveling from a country that is approved for the VWP though.

If your country isn’t shown on the list when you visit the ESTA website, then you know you’re not eligible for the VWP. That’s why you need to look at the list first, and you also need to be sure that you’re set to only be in the US for less than a three month period.
