Canadian Electronic Travel Authorization

Foreigners apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) instead of visitor visa when travelling to Canada by air. When the foreigner holds a valid nonimmigrant visa, or has held a Canadian visitor visa in the past ten years, they can apply for the eTA. They can also apply when paying Canada a short visit, normally as tourists or a business trip that is up to six months. The eTA cannot be applied for by dual Canadian citizens used to travelling to or through Canada. They need a valid passport to fly to Canada.
